Six Figure Settlement in North Philadelphia Sidewalk Fall

The Results are in!

Troy R. Crichton, Esq. negotiates six figure settlement on behalf of client in North Philadelphia sidewalk trip and fall

In 2016, Minor Plaintiff, J.R. was walking with his mother near 5th and Allegheny Streets in the City and County of Philadelphia when his left foot caught on a sidewalk defect causing him to twist and fracture his tibia.  In addition to the months of missing school, sports, playing with friends and ambulating with crutches, Minor Plaintiff was also forced to undergo surgery for complications in the healing process.  This entire incident not only caused pain and suffering and a loss of enjoyment of life for the minor but was also an undue burden on his family who had to ferry him to school and doctor’s appointments as well as helping him around their two-story home.  Realizing that this accident was not his fault, the family began to seek legal counsel.  Unfortunately, they were turned away by several lawyers who thought the case was too difficult or not worth the effort.  Eventually, they found personal injury lawyer Troy Crichton, Esq. who agreed to take the case and was confident that he could find justice for J.R.

Philadelphia Code § 11-505. Sidewalk Paving and Other Improvements by Property Owner

The sidewalks of the all public streets, and the roadways and sidewalks of all private streets, shall be graded, curbed, paved and kept in repair at the expense of the owners of the land fronting thereon, except as otherwise provided in this Section.

Philadelphia Code requires the landowner to keep their sidewalk in good repair at their own expense or face civil liability, including premise liability lawsuits. Upon Attorney Crichton’s investigation, it was discovered that the incident could have easily been prevented had the landowner taken simple, cost-effective steps to repair the sidewalk. After demanding compensation for the Defendant’s negligence from the land owner’s unresponsive insurance company, Attorney Crichton, ready to go to trial for his client, filed suit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.  Realizing they didn’t stand a chance against Attorney Crichton in court, the Defendant’s insurance company picked up the phone and began serious negotiations with serious numbers.

Don’t let you or someone you love be bullied by uncaring and unresponsive insurance companies.  Call personal injury lawyer Troy Crichton at (267) 225-3317 to let them know that you won’t back down without a fight. You and your injuries are much more than claim numbers on a piece of paper.  Call Troy today for a free personal injury consultation.
